In this session, Alex and our guest, Pabau CEO and founder William Brandham, discuss why we wanted to rebuild Pabau 2 from scratch. Plus, they share how our new profit-driving features support clients not just in running their business, but in making more money.
William Brandham: “We took a big gamble three years ago by rebuilding our product, even though many clients were happy with the old version. We aimed for long-term gains rather than short-term benefits.Â
“It was a significant risk and cost, but we’re now seeing the benefits. Building a new product is always challenging, but we wanted to stay ahead of the curve. Many competitors are still using older technology, which will make it harder for them to innovate and progress over time.”
William Brandham: “We’ve discontinued some features in Pabau 2 that were present in Pabau 1, such as the birthday mailer. Clients transitioning to Pabau 2 have asked how to wish their clients a happy birthday now.
“The birthday mailer was our very first feature, but we’ve removed it for a reason. We now have automation, which can do much more than just sending birthday wishes.
William Brandham: “We’re about three to four weeks away from launching the Pabau marketplace. One app we’re adding is WhatsApp integration, which enables automated appointment bookings through WhatsApp using AI to suggest availability.
“Another feature is self-check-in via an iPad stand where patients enter their date of birth to check in, notifying staff of their arrival.Â
“We’re also developing a communication center to track all outbound communications — emails, texts, letters — and their delivery status. You can keep track of the status delivery, and it’ll help manage issues like email bounces and incorrectly formatted phone numbers.”
William Brandham: “Using a Pabau Pay card terminal offers several advantages, such as time savings.Â
“With third-party terminals, clients need to run reports and reconcile accounts manually, which can take up to an hour daily. A client I spoke to was struggling with this, using different systems and payment providers. With a Pabau card terminal, payments are automated, eliminating manual entry and ensuring automatic account reconciliation.Â
“Another advantage is card-on-file capability. Similar to apps like Deliveroo and Uber, clients expect to save their card details for quicker transactions. If booking a service takes too long, clients might choose another clinic.
William Brandham: “Clinic software can boost revenue and improve patient care. An online booking system can function like ordering a pizza. When you order a pizza intending to spend €10, the checkout screen might offer add-ons like cookies or chicken wings, increasing your total spend.Â
“Similarly, for aesthetic treatments, predicting what clients might want can drive sales. For example, upselling products related to a booked service, like a HydraFacial, or promoting package deals instead of individual services, has shown excellent results. There are many advantages to integrating upselling strategies into payment terminals.
